I really really like robe a la francaise. My favourite part though, is the long flap at the back of the dresses even though that is not visible here. I referred to the painting of Madame Pompadour as I was drawing this.
I am experimenting with a design for a typical ‘elf’ character in fantasy, with a 18th-19th century central Asian theme instead of Medieval Europe. This is more of an “inspired” design than a costume study with a lot of fantasy costume elements. A lot of the challenge here is to make her read as a a fantasy “elf” and not just a person in a modified costume with long ears.
